November 4, 2023 P9 Update

Updated: Feb 1

Favour New Life

Favour is a seventeen year old Nigerian girl living in accra, Ghana. About a month

ago she came to our contact, John, asking for help. She was nine months pregnant,

homeless and unemployed. The father had abandoned her. She was reduced to sleeping

under a table on the beach.

John gave her a small amount of money for food and arranged for a room for her to

stay in.

When Favour went into labor John took her to the hospital and took responsibility

for her care. On October 28, 2023, Favour gave birth to a little baby boy. It was a

difficult birth, Favour needed two operations and the baby had jaundice. He was

kept in an incubator for a week after birth. John was there every day to make

certain that everything was going smoothly and that all of their needs were taken

care of.

Finally on the 3rd of November Favour and the baby were released from the hospital.

John was there to sign for them and to pay the final bill. Then he took them back

to the room that had been provided.

The doctors warned that Favour needed some time to recover from her surgery and

should not even attempt to work for awhile. So John arranged for a lady to care for

her for a small fee.

Last night Favour worried about the baby being bitten by mosquitoes (more than just

a nuisance; mosquitoes in Ghana carry malaria) so John bought a small baby net tent

for the baby to sleep in.

It was a difficult time but both mother and child are home from the hospital and

doing well.
