Anabel in the Village
Anabel is the abandoned child we have been caring for since she was brought to our
friend John in Ghana when she was three years old. Thanks to generous donations
from caring people John has been able to provide not only for her food and lodging
but she has also been receiving an education at a private school so that she will
have a solid foundation for life when she is older.
Just recently Anabel's relatives came to the school and took her to live with them
in a village some distance away. It is good that she is with her mother's family
but of course, this leaves the question of her education.
John has been in communication with the family, and it seems that Anabel is working
in the fields on a farm. This at six years of age. Of course this is not a bad
thing and nothing to be ashamed of, but the idea that Anabel's future will be that
of an ignorant worker in the fields of Ghana is not pleasant. It would be good to
think that Anabel can have a better future than that.
Anabel's family has agreed to allow her to return to the school if all of the
necessary fees are paid by P9. We are trying to make the arrangements so that this
can be done as soon as possible.
When Anabel was first taken to her family's village, we suspended taking donations
at her GoFundMe page until we knew more about the situation. We were determined to
be truthful always and never give even the hint that we were engaged in any sort of
deceit. We have now reopened her page so that anyone who wishes to contribute to
her care and education can do so by that means.
We realize that this has been chaotic mess but always we are trying to do what is
best for a little girl in a very tough part of the world. Our funds are limited,
especially this time of the year, and we have other children in need too, but if we
can arrange the financing we will get Anabel back in school where she belongs.
