Anabel today
We thought you might enjoy seeing the latest photo of Anabel, the little girl in Ghana who was abandoned by her mother when she was very small and has been under our care since that time.
Anabel has really grown since those first days when she was brought to the childcare center, confused and unhappy and alone. The matron at that time said that she spent all of her time sitting in a corner crying for her momma. It was a very sad time and of course nothing replaces a mother's care and attention but at least she had a place to stay and people who were taking care of her.
Today Anabel is no longer a toddler. She is a young girl who has grown not only physically but also in her self-assurance and self-confidence. The most important thing now is that she continues to receive her education. It is a sad fact that there are many young people in Africa who have some education but still have no jobs. But there are many more who are totally uneducated. At least those who have had some schooling have opportunities that the unschooled do not. So we will continue to do what we can to see that Anabel has a future. That is what caring for others is all about.
