Anabel

In the flurry of activity going on in Ghana with new babies and people in need, Anabel is our constant. She is not the first we began to help, but we have helped her longer than any of the others we are now presently involved with. Since the time children found her abandoned on the street and brought her to John, through measles and rashes and starting school so that she could build a future, caring for Anabel has been the one thing we have been determined to do.

Anabel is a true orphan among our children. This is a sad fact because orphans are the ones in greatest need, but they are often the hardest to reach. Sadly, the streets in Accra are filled with orphans and abandoned children. We cannot help them all. But we can help Anabel.

During the time we have known her Anabel has grown from cute toddler to gawky child starting to show the promise of what she will be when she reaches adulthood. She has developed a sense of poise and no longer appears as the lost and confused little girl that she was when she first came to us. She still has years to go before she is ready to go out in the world but at least, she has made it through those first, difficult years. >It is a true pleasure to see Anabel now and to see the future shining in her eyes. She is not yet ready to go out into the world on her own, but she is getting there. Every day she is changing and growing and showing her promise.
