It looks like it will be a hard holiday season for John in Ghana, whose
dedication, hard work, and compassion for those who are suffering is an inspiration
to everyone who knows him, is once again seriously ill. He is passing blood and has
some other, associated health issues.
This is a problem that John has struggled with for years, including having an
operation for it about a year ago. Apparently he has a bleeding ulcer, though the
operation itself was for a dangerous hemorrhoid. Many times we thought he had the
bleeding under control but it keeps coming back.
The doctors said that he needs an operation but the expense of that is challenging,
especially this time of year when people are more concerned with the holidays than
with donating to charities and nonprofits. Our funds are always limited and we
operate under a strict budget. There is seldom anything left for an emergency of
this magnitude.
John is a good guy who has always done his best for the people who come to him in
need. He has always put the needs of others ahead of his own but now he is simply
too ill to be able to help anyone, including himself.
We will do our best for him.
