Surgery for Baby Immanuel Update 10/10/26
Surgery for Baby Immanuel
Little Immanuel was born to Happiness in Ghana in February of 2026, so he is about nine months old now. He had a swelling in his groin that was getting worse and worse, causing the little guy considerable discomfort. When he was taken in for his check-up last month the doctors said he was basically in good health but that Happiness, his mother, should keep a careful eye on the swelling for a month and see what happened with it. Unfortunately, during that month, he continued to get much worse. He wasn't sleeping and was crying constantly from pain.
Finally, the situation became so bad that we feared the little boy might actually die if something wasn't done. So, John took him back to the local hospital. They said he would need surgery, a scary thought for such a small child.
We had some technical problems getting the necessary funds to John and because of that we weren't entirely certain the operation would go through. It was especially complicated because a doctor had to be brought in from outside the area so it wasn't something that could be scheduled at the spur of the moment. But fortunately, the necessary arrangements were made ine time and yesterday the little boy had his surgery.
John spoke with the doctors the next morning and they told him that Immanuel had been suffering with a hernia, which seems almost impossible for such a small child but apparently, it's more common than one would expect. They said they would keep him overnight and he should be ready to be released tomorrow morning. We will post an update on his condition as soon as we know more.
