Grieving

We are deeply saddened today by the death of the little boy of Sylvia and Madon. He

died at birth, at home and with no doctors or any help from medical professionals.

The parents are teenagers, barely out of childhood themselves, and they had no one

to turn to for help. We at P9 did our best but our funds are limited and there are

so many others in need. For now we are struggling to keep the mother

alive. And we will help with the baby's burial. A sad and terrible time.

Imagine what the father is feeling, already grieving from the death of a son he was

eagerly waiting to hold in his arms and now afraid that his girlfriend will die as

well. Instead of happiness and a growing little family he is faced with the

prospect of losing everyone. And he is only a teenage boy, not even yet sure of his

place in the world or of his own future.

We do not know all the details of Sylvia's situation. She was in hospital briefly a

week or so ago but was released and didn't have the funds to return when she went

into childbirth. After the birth at home she was unconscious and the father didn't

even have the funds to get her to a hospital. John managed to get her admitted,

though we had to try to get extra funds to him so that she could get the care she

needed. We haven't heard any more. We can only hope and pray that she is recovering.

To lose her as well as the baby would be devastating.

But the little boy is dead. And we are mourning his loss.
