Quick Donald Update
We are now able to add some additional information to the update on little Donald.
He is presently in the care of his aunt in Kwahu, a district in eastern Ghana. He
is very ill and we have sent the money needed for his treatment. This is all the
further information we have at this time.
Donald
Donald is one of the small children we have been trying to help in Ghana. His
teenaged mother, Favour, came to us when she was homeless and pregnant and asked
for help. We were able to arrange for her to give birth in a hospital and we have
done what we can to help her and her baby Donald since. Our funds are always
limited and little Donald's health has been poor since the moment he was born. We
have done what we could but the mother and child have gone through very hard times.
John, our friend who works in Ghana to help the people who come to him in need, had
to deal with some of his own problems over the past few months, making it hard for
him to keep in contact with everyone. As a result, we were unable to remain in
direct contact with Favour and, through her, with Donald.
Last week John asked for funds to help get medical treatment for Donald, who has
been running a fever and vomiting. Donald has been ill for some time. He has lost
weight and has stopped talking. By the time we were able to get money to John
Favour had taken Donald to stay with some people in Kwahu, a district in eastern
Ghana, and John has lost contact with her. The child is still ill and in need of
medical care. John is trying to track them down to be able to get the funds
necessary for his treatment. (Favour has no cellphone and there is no way to reach
her directly).
Little Donald has had a very hard time of it in his short life. Favour is, perhaps,
not the best of mothers but, in her defense, she is struggling merely to survive.
We are very concerned for the little boy.
