Anabel is a little girl in Ghana who was abandoned by her mother when she was three
years old. Some children brought her to our friend John who arranged for her to
stay in a private child care center and we have been funding her stay there since
that time. She is now five years of age.
It is not a good thing for a child to be living in an institution and not with a
loving family but at least she has a place to stay, regular food and care, and she
is starting her second year of private schooling. Her life could be better but it
could also be much worse.
Anabel has had some health issues, as all small children will from time to time.
She has a continuing rash, possibly because she has to sleep in a hot room with
many other children. She has needed the regular purchase of lotions and medicines
to help deal with it.
We were recently informed that she continues to have sores in her mouth, which is
worrisome. She had this condition some time ago and we thought it had been taken
care of but it seems it has not. Obviously this is not a good situation. Even if it
is not life-threatening it is not something a child should have to put up with.
So the good news is that Anabel's situation is holding. The bad news is that she is
suffering with some health issues. We are looking into it to see what we can do for
her.
