Happiness and her Baby
Just a little update on Happiness and her newborn little boy. The child has just
had his circumcision and we have arranged for him to have the kind of medical care
he needs to make certain the wound doesn't become infected. This has happened
several times before with other little boys we have helped to care for and we
didn't want it to happen again. The doctors there will do the circumcision but
medication to make sure the wound is disinfected costs extra so sometimes it is not
done. But in this case, this has been taken care of and hopefully there will be no
problems.
It is our intention that he have his naming ceremony sometime this month. This is
extremely important. It is something like the Christian ceremony of christening but
in Ghana it is believed that the spirits may take the child back (he may die) if he
is not properly named. So, this is something that we must do. In the meantime, we are
doing what we can to make sure the little family has money for food and shelter.
