Let's face it, anytime anyone asks for donations to causes in Africa red flags pop
up all over the place. If there is one place in the world where one expects any
cause to be a total fraud, a scam and a lie, it is there. And the internet is a
risky enough place anyway. It is very hard to know which people are real, true, and
sincere, and which ones are just somebody trying to trick you into giving them
money.
So why should you believe anything we say?
P9 Foundation is a 501(c)3 with a multi year recorded history.
When it comes to John in Ghana, John is well aware of the problem of credibility.
He has always gone to enormous lengths to verify to us everything that he can with
every person he deals with. He photographs each person holding up a sign that gives
their names and birth dates, their nation of origin and what they are asking for.
If he gives them funds directly he sends photos of himself handing them the money.
If he purchases anything like medicine for them he sends us photographs of the
receipts and photographs of the actual things he has purchased. He also sends
photographic copies of doctor and hospital bills and even copies of the tickets he
purchases when he travels from place to place. When he has thrown birthday parties
and when he has conducted naming ceremonies he sends photos of the crowds and even
videos of the ceremonies.
Granted, all of these people could be in on an effort to scam, but if so the number
of people involved would be unreasonably high at this point. We have been working
with John for years now and the number of people we have helped by this effort is considerable.
