Rescuing Kodua
We are slowly regaining contact with our friends in Ghana after a very difficult
time. Everyone was scattered because of the heavy rains and other problems that
have been limiting our ability to help others. Our major concern has been the
little children, many of whom are orphans, abandoned, or with parents who are
simply too poor to be able to provide them with even the most basic of necessities.
There are a few we still need to regain contact with but are slowly putting
everything back together.
Twenibua Kodua is one of the most vulnerable children in our small group. He just
had his second birthday last month. His mother abandoned him shortly after birth.
Fortunately his father has stepped up to take responsibility for his son and he has
done his best but he has no work and no money even to support himself, let alone a
baby. For a time the father's own mother, Kodua's grandmother, was taking care of
the baby but then she refused to do any more and threw him out. The father brought
the child to John and we have been providing for him since then but recent events
made that impossible for a time.
About a week ago the father came to John in distress. Kodua had fallen down a steep
step and had injured his head. Aside from the obvious wound the boy has been
suffering headaches and has been vomiting. We have been worried that he had a
concussion.
John took the little boy to a clinic and he was immediately admitted. He has been
in the hospital since that time. He is receiving treatment and it seems he will be
okay. He is due to be released on Thursday the 14th. We will try to post an update
on his condition as soon as we hear more.
