We are finally starting to regain contact with our friends in Ghana who were scattered by the heavy rains that pounded them so badly in June.

They all lost many of their possessions and many of them had to seek shelter in other parts of Ghana, away from the flooding in Accra. There has been much hardship but at least everyone managed to survive.

Belinda is the girlfriend of Benjamin, the young man who first came to our attention when he saved a person from drowning in the ocean off Accra some time ago. They later came to our friend John when Belinda was about to give birth, asking for help so that she could deliver the child safely in a hospital.

We helped Belinda to travel to a nearby village to stay with her mother so that the mother could help her with the childbirth and care of the baby afterward. The child, a little boy, was born shortly afterward and is now about ten months old. The parents named him Adom. Belinda and Adom are still staying with Belinda's mother, though Belinda hopes to return to Accra soon with the baby so that they can be with Benjamin.

They are very poor and have little money but they have survived. We have donated a small amount for food and for things a young baby needs. As soon as possible we will arrange for Belinda to bring Adom back to Accra so that they can stay with Benjamin. But for now they are okay, which is good news.
