Anabel is a little girl in Ghana who was found abandoned at three years of age. She
was brought to our friend, John, who arranged for her to stay in a childcare center
there and we have been providing for her needs since that time. She will be six
years old in May. We intend to continue to help her for as long as she needs us.
Anabel has been attending school and getting her education, which she needs if she
is to have any hopes for a real future. She has been having her ups and downs, as
all little girls do, but overall, she is thriving and doing well.
Anabel has her own small circle of fans and supporters online and we try to provide
updates at least once a month so everyone can see how she is doing. Ironically,
those times when she is doing well there is little to say. It is only when she has
some specific problem that we have something write about. And she is doing well
right now, or as well as can be expected with an orphan living in a children's home
in Africa.
This is not to say that Anabel doesn't have problems. As she grows older she needs
the sorts of things that a growing girl needs- clothes, shoes, soaps and shampoos,
healthcare products, and the like. Paying for her room and food and for the tuition
for her schooling must always come first, of course, but every child needs various
incidental items as well. Especially little girls who are growing to be young
women. And sometimes both the home and the school go on outings to shop and for fun
and she can't go unless she pays the necessary fees they charge for each child who
wants to go along.
But in general, Anabel is doing well. We are very happy that she is thriving. And we
are very grateful for those who have been helping us in our determination to make
sure that she will have a future and a good place in the world.
