Storms in Accra
Heavy rains have blown into Accra, Ghana, and our people there have been suffering.
Remember that they are very poor and they have very little shelter even at the best
of times. When the weather is bad, they are helpless to protect themselves.
The winds completely stripped the roof from John's small house, leaving him wide
open to the elements. He is now struggling to get zinc sheeting to replace it so
that he will once again have some shelter from the rain but right now he is totally
exposed to the weather.
Isaac and his two-year-old little boy Kodua have been sleeping on the street in
front of a public building but the storm flooded them out and now they don't have
even this meager shelter.
Seventeen-year-old Sylvia, the teenager we have been trying to help through her
pregnancy, has been staying with friends but water poured through their room all
night. She is due to deliver at any time and obviously is in no shape for this kind
of physical and emotional stress.
We are not sure of the others
.
It has been a difficult couple of days for everyone.
